Jello Salad Tips

Adding pineapple juice to make lime jello makes it sweeter. It’s best to keep the pineapple juice after draining the can of crushed pineapple and then add these into the lime jello mix. The pineapple juice acts as a natural sweetener that lets you skip the sugar

Add mayonnaise to help with creaminess. We add in mayonnaise to help with the thick and creamy consistency of the congealed salad. Lastly, you don’t have to worry about its flavor affecting the taste of the cottage cheese jello salad. It combines well with lime gelatin, cottage cheese, and evaporated milk

Use glass containers to make and mold the jello salad. Glass containers work best since they can handle high heat. Use one when transferring the gelatin mix from the boiling pot. It also acts as a firm and transparent mold for your lime jello salad

The water doesn’t need to be boiling, but it needs to be hot enough to quickly dissolve the gelatin and sugar

Sugar is optional – I have left the sugar out before and the pineapple provides a nice natural sweetener
